My husband and I have been clients of Bridgton Vet Hospital for over 4+ years; bringing our recently deceased pet Chaquita and now our newly rescued dog Lily Chacse.
Dr. Gerardi listens to our concerns and provides solutions and/or alternative care therapies and, is open to trying a holistic approach where warranted. Follow-up care….checking in after visits is a service showing that Bridgton Vet prioritizes wellness over symptom management.
When our pet Chaquita had fallen ill to heart and collapsed trachea health issues, Dr. Gerardi took extra time and care with her. The Doctor and Team felt our heartbreak and expressed such compassion upon our beloved Chaquita’s passing. She recognized that our Chaquita was not just an animal, but a family member whose relationship with me and my husband was sacred. She clearly understands the bond between a human and their animal companion.
The happiness that Dr. Gerardi and staff showed when we brought our newly rescued pet in for care was so heartfelt… they genuinely celebrate life and new beginnings with their clients. It spoke volumes to my husband and me….that they felt the joy of our family’s expansion as if it were their own.
My husband and I feel and view the Bridgton Vet Hospital team as our “extended family” and highly recommend them to any pet owner who wants their animal family member treated with compassion, dignity, love and great professional medical care.
I was delighted to be made to feel as if both my dachshund Ram and I were treated with respect, care and concern. We were not made to feel rushed, overlooked or unheard. All of my questions were answered and my little Ram was doted on, which we as pet owners want and love to see at our vet. I am glad I switched over and I’m going to stay for the long haul. Thank you! 🙏🏻
We had recently started taking our dog Ace to Bridgton Veterinary Hospital due to some urinary issues. Eventually his pain got to be too much for him and he passed away peacefully. Every visit we had Ace was treated so professionally and with great compassion. As were we. Then we received a condolences card signed by the entire staff and this just made us realize how fortunate we were to have had them look after our little dog while he was ill. Last year, I brought my dog to see Dr. Wheeler for a significant overbite that was expected to cause painful issues as he grew. After discussing treatment options and costs, we were advised that a pulpotomy was the best solution. I expressed concern because my dog chews heavily with his front teeth, but I was reassured that the procedure had a 98% success rate and there was no reason to worry. Despite my hesitation, we moved forward after two separate consultations, both of which were quite expensive.
On the day of the procedure, everything initially seemed to go smoothly. However, at pick up when I asked whether my dog had been microchipped, the vet wasn’t sure and left the room abruptly. Moments later, I heard my dog screaming in pain, he had been microchipped while fully awake, which should never have happened.
Within two weeks, the pulpotomy failed. At this point, we had already spent over $2,500, not including what we paid our regular vet to remove his puppy canines. Despite the failure, we were told we needed to bring him back for sedation and X-rays, quoted at at least another $1,500. From there, the options were either to redo the procedure or extract the teeth—costing an additional $3,000–$4,000.
We simply couldn’t afford to go through this again. We returned to our regular vet, who monitored him closely. Unfortunately, two weeks ago our dog suddenly began screaming in pain. Both teeth had abscessed, including a neighboring tooth, and the bone was infected. We ended up paying $1,200 to have the teeth removed, what should have been done in the first place.
I am extremely disappointed in the care my dog received. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of what happened, and not even a partial discount despite the failed procedure and the distress my dog went through. We had such high hopes after hearing positive things about this clinic, and they were helpful, until I declined to spend even more money correcting a problem that began under their care.
My poor dog suffered unnecessarily, and “disappointed” doesn’t begin to describe how we feel.
